crowns and bridges

Whether your tooth is cracked, decayed, damaged or you have injured your tooth, a crown or bridge  is a beautiful, strong, precision-made solution for replacing damaged dental crown(s). Best of all, it looks like your natural tooth. It is a permanent covering that fits over the original tooth.

Crowns

IIf your tooth is damaged but not lost, a crown can be used to cover the damaged part of your tooth. A crown protects your tooth from further damage. Crowns can be made of different kinds of metals, porcelain  (ceramic) or porcelain fused to metal. They are strong and last for about 10 years, if you take good care of them.

The process for getting your new dental crown or bridges is easy. It requires 5-8 days.

Initial visit

Step 1 :After an examination of your current dental situation by your dentist, he will proceed by preparing your tooth for a new dental crown.

Step 2 :  Your dentist will prepare your tooth for your dental crown by reshaping it to make room for the crown. It’s very common you will receive local anesthesia during this reduction step. Your dentist then will take an impression of this area in your mouth. Finally, your dentist will prepare a temporary dental crown for you, so you can eat normally while your final dental crown is being made.

Second visit

Step 3 : Within a very short time (5 days), your dentist will receive your definitive dental crown. He will prepare your tooth for your dental crown by removing decay and reshaping it to make room for the crown. Then he will check that the permanent dental crown fits perfectly. When you’re satisfied with the result, your dentist will cement the dental crown on.

The final result for an All-Ceramic Dental Crown

An all-ceramic dental crown is simply the best in the esthetic plan, you don’t show a grey line at their base near your gums because it is metal-free and biocompatible. All-ceramic dental crowns typically have the most realistic appearance, although they tend to be less durable than other materials. Crowns can whiten, reshape, and realign existing teeth, adding to a healthy and vibrant smile.

Moreover, all-ceramic dental crowns are metal-free, biocompatible and non-allergenic materials.

Our partner dental surgeons use the prestigious PROCERA and CERCON ceramic for reach this result.

The final result for a porcelain-fused-to-metal Dental Crown

A porcelain-fused-to-metal crown has a core of cast metal alloy covered with porcelain. If your gum receded, a gray line will become visible. This solution is most commonly proposed because cheaper than an all ceramic crown, but less esthetic.

Bridges

A bridge is a device used to fill the space where a tooth has fallen out or been removed. A bridge is also called a "fixed bridge" or a "fixed partial denture."
A typical bridge consists of a filler tooth that is attached to two surrounding crowns (abutments). A bridge can replace one or more missing teeth and is held firmly in place by healthy teeth on each side of the missing one(s).Bridge is a fixed, permanent, esthetic , functional solution and safeguard the integrity of existing teeth and help maintain a healthy smile.

This procedure will prevent your remaining teeth from drifting out of line and causing other problems.

What you need to Know:

  • Artificial tooth may not be as strong as your natural tooth, so
    • do not bite down on  strong objects,
    • do not use your teeth to open or cut things
    • and do not do these things with your natural teeth either !
  • Left untreated, a damaged tooth might not only affect your smile, it could also lead to further tooth decay in the underlying tooth and root, resulting in the need for a root canal or other major dental procedure. Spaces in the mouth from missing teeth can cause multiple teeth to shift, lead to occlusion (biting) and/or jaw problems, and may spur periodontal disease.
